The ZF Mgcawu District Joint Operations inspections took place in the Kai !Garib Local Municipality, focusing on the critical issue of Spaza Shop registrations and food safety. The Operations were led by the Executive Mayor of the ZF Mgcawu District Municipality, Councillor Maryna Basson and was accompanied by the Kai Garib Mayor, Councillor Marshall Matthys, Members of the Mayoral Committee, and Ward Councillors.

In Kakamas and Keimoes, our multi-disciplinary teams conducted inspections at various tuck shops, uncovering alarming conditions that posed serious risks to public health. Shops found operating under extreme unhygienic practices were closed, and prohibition notices were issued.

Our dedicated Environmental Health Practitioners confiscated and disposed of unsafe items, including rotten food and expired goods. These inspections are vital in ensuring adherence to laws that protect our communities. We thank all stakeholders for their commitment to the success of this program.
