Joint Operations inspections were recently conducted in the Kai !Garib Local Municipality, emphasizing the importance of Spaza Shop registrations and food safety. Under the leadership of the Mayor of the Kai !Garib Municipality, Councillor Marshall Matthys, the inspections involved Ward Councillors, municipal staff, and stakeholders.

The focus was on Ward 8 (Kanoneiland and Plangenie), where seven tuckshops were inspected, revealing none to be compliant. Two tuckshops were subsequently closed due to expired goods and inadequate infrastructure. A follow-up visit is scheduled for Thursday, 10 April 2025.
