KAI !GARIB LOCAL MUNICIPALITY CONFIRMS RECEIPT OF EQUITABLE SHARE ALLOCATION
Kai !Garib Local Municipality wishes to inform residents and stakeholders that, following the National Treasury circular issued last week confirming the withdrawal of the temporary withholding of the Municipality’s equitable share allocation, the Municipality has now received its equitable share transfer as of yesterday.
The Municipality welcomes this development, which follows constructive engagement with the National Treasury and the successful fulfilment of all requirements relating to the temporary withholding of the July 2026 equitable share transfer.
The release of the equitable share confirms that the Municipality has complied with all requests made by the National Treasury, including the submission of the required information and implementation of corrective measures. This reflects the Municipality’s commitment to strengthening financial governance, improving compliance and ensuring sound financial management.
The Municipality wishes to assure residents, businesses and all stakeholders that the equitable share allocation will enable the continued delivery of essential municipal services, including water, sanitation, electricity, roads and other critical services.
Kai !Garib Local Municipality extends its appreciation to the National Treasury, the Northern Cape Provincial Treasury, the Northern Cape Department of Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs (CoGHSTA), Council and the municipal administration for their support and collaborative efforts in resolving the matter.
The Municipality remains committed to improving governance, strengthening financial management, enhancing accountability and ensuring full compliance with all legislative and regulatory requirements. These efforts form part of the Municipality’s ongoing commitment to building a financially sustainable institution capable of delivering quality services to all residents.
